Brazilian football Carlos Reported Embraces Islam in Brazil

Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos has reportedly embraced Islam in Brazil. Turkish lawmaker Ali Şahin shared the claim after meeting representatives of Islamic organizations in São Paulo.

However, Carlos has not publicly confirmed the reported conversion. His representatives have also not released an official statement.

Turkish Lawmaker Shares Details

Şahin belongs to Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party). He said Sheikh Jihad Hammadeh told him about Carlos’ reported conversion.

Hammadeh is a prominent member of Brazil’s Muslim community. According to Şahin, Carlos had remained in contact with Hammadeh for some time.

Şahin said Carlos visited Hammadeh around four weeks ago. During the meeting, Carlos reportedly recited the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith.

Conversion Remains Unconfirmed

Şahin congratulated Carlos and wished him and his family peace, health, and blessings.

However, Carlos has not confirmed the claim himself. No official statement has come from the former footballer or his representatives.

The report therefore remains unverified.

Şahin reportedly received the information during a meeting at the Islamic Charitable Youth League of Brazil in São Paulo. Representatives from several Islamic organizations attended the meeting.

Roberto Carlos’ Football Career

Carlos, 53, ranks among football’s most famous left-backs. He became a global star during his long career with Real Madrid.

The Brazilian defender won several major trophies with the Spanish club. His achievements included UEFA Champions League and La Liga titles.

Carlos also played an important role in Brazil’s 2002 FIFA World Cup-winning team.

His Time at Fenerbahçe

Carlos moved to Turkish club Fenerbahçe in 2007. He spent two seasons with the Istanbul side.

His connection with Türkiye has added interest to the report. Turkish lawmaker Şahin also highlighted Carlos’ time at Fenerbahçe in his statement.

Marriage Also Draws Attention

The reports have also renewed interest in Carlos’ marriage to Moroccan-born football agent Suhayla Tahiri.

Tahiri works as a FIFA-licensed players’ agent in Spain. She focuses on football management and player representation.

Reports suggest the couple first met through a professional connection. Their relationship later became personal.

Recently resurfaced wedding photographs have also attracted attention. However, the photographs do not confirm Carlos’ reported conversion to Islam.

Official Confirmation Still Awaited

For now, the claim comes from Sheikh Jihad Hammadeh’s account. Şahin later shared the information publicly.

Roberto Carlos has yet to confirm the report himself. Until he or his representatives issue a statement, the reported conversion should be treated as unconfirmed.
