- Pakistan-backed candidates have secured all three contested board seats in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) elections, defeating an India-backed panel during the ACC Annual General Meeting in Bangkok.The closely contested election saw three director positions on the ACC board up for grabs. According to sources, the winning panel was backed by ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The successful candidates included representatives from Qatar, Singapore and the Maldives.

The Pakistan-backed panel won all three available seats following a close contest against the India-backed candidates.
According to sources, this marks the first time since the ACC was established that a Pakistan-backed panel has secured all three contested board positions in a single election.
Sources described the result as a major achievement for Mohsin Naqvi and an important development for Pakistan’s influence within the regional cricket body.
Mohsin Naqvi played a key role in supporting the successful panel during the election.
Rajeev Shukla Represents India at ACC Meeting
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla represented India at the ACC Annual General Meeting.
The election took place during the meeting, where Pakistan- and India-backed panels competed for the three available director positions.
The outcome resulted in a clean sweep for the Pakistan-backed candidates.
ACC Reviews Preparations for Next Asia Cup
The ACC Annual General Meeting also discussed preparations for next year’s Asia Cup, which is expected to be held in Bangladesh.
Sylhet, Mirpur and Chattogram have been proposed as potential venues for the tournament.
The council also reviewed its annual budget and discussed preparations for the Women’s Asia Cup in Dubai.
India and Pakistan Placed in Same Women’s Asia Cup Group
India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 13 and will feature eight teams divided into two groups of four.
The opening match will see Thailand face Hong Kong, China, on August 28.
All 15 matches, including the final on September 13, will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The ACC meeting reviewed the arrangements for the tournament as teams prepare for one of the biggest events on the women’s cricket calendar.
