DI KHAN: Pakistan Customs officials have seized a large cache of arms and ammunition in Sidra Sharif.
The operation was carried out by Customs Enforcement staff at JCP Yarik.
Officials said they acted on credible information and intercepted a vehicle at Sidra Sharif.
However, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
Large Cache of Weapons Seized
The seized weapons were estimated to be worth Rs32 million.
The cache included four US-made M4 5.56mm rifles and two G-III rifles with one magazine.
Officials also seized 42 Maghull PMAG D-60 magazines.
The cache included 20 empty M4 magazines and 40 empty AK-47 magazines.
Moreover, officials recovered 18 Turkish Tissa Zigara pistols. Each pistol had two magazines.
The seizure also included 30 Beretta pistols. Of these, 25 were US-made and five were made in Italy.
Customs officials also recovered two unmarked shot pistols.
In addition, the seizure included 120 Chinese-made 30-bore pistols.
Ammunition Also Recovered
The ammunition seized during the operation included 900 AK-47 rounds marked 711/10.
Officials also recovered 2,700 additional AK-47 rounds.
The cache contained 3,500 rounds of 30-bore pistol ammunition.
Furthermore, officials seized 1,600 12-bore Pak Shaheen cartridges.
Legal Proceedings Underway
Customs officials said they had taken the arms, ammunition and vehicle into official custody.
Legal proceedings are now underway under the relevant laws.
Meanwhile, authorities are continuing efforts to identify and arrest the driver who fled the scene.
Officials said further action would follow after the investigation progresses.
