LAHORE: Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has submitted a written response to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) regarding his summons, sources said on Tuesday.
Rizwan sent the response through courier, according to sources.
In the letter, the Pakistan batter raised several questions about the investigation and sought clarification from the agency.
“Why was I called by the NCCIA?” Rizwan asked in his response, according to sources.
He also questioned why his mobile phone had not been returned. In addition, he sought clarification about the alleged disciplinary violation for which he was being questioned.
“I want to know for what reason you are calling me,” Rizwan stated in the letter, according to sources.
Investigation Into Dressing-Room Leaks
Rizwan and Test opener Imam-ul-Haq are being questioned by the NCCIA over alleged dressing-room leaks during Pakistan’s ongoing Test series against England.
The investigation reportedly involves data recovered from their mobile phones.
According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took custody of the players’ phones before handing them over to the relevant authorities.
Sources said the investigation is also focusing on financial matters and suspected transactions involving the two players.
Their financial dealings before and after the England Test series are reportedly being examined. Details of their bank accounts are also under scrutiny, sources added.
Imam Faces Possible Ban
Meanwhile, Imam-ul-Haq could face a ban after authorities prepared an initial report against him.
The report reportedly concerns allegations of a suspicious injury, dressing-room leaks and disciplinary violations during the England series.
Sources alleged that Imam faked an injury, leaked dressing-room information and breached team discipline.
The opener’s previous injury case has also reportedly been reopened.
According to sources, the PCB had raised concerns about an injury Imam sustained during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand before the England series.
An earlier inquiry had reportedly recommended a two-year ban against the batter.
However, a former head coach, former selector and former captain later intervened. They met officials and recommended that no ban be imposed on Imam, according to sources.
