CALIFORNIA: Google is testing an updated version of CC, its AI agent that works across email, calendars, chats and tasks.
The company has now redesigned CC to help families manage everyday household responsibilities.
The updated agent can track family schedules and prepare plans for the day ahead. It can also handle tasks such as filling out permission slips, creating shopping lists and preparing weekly meal plans.
Google introduced the family-focused version of CC this week. The move comes as AI companies explore ways to use autonomous agents for everyday consumer tasks.
CC Started as a Productivity Tool
Google originally launched CC as a productivity agent connected to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and the wider web.
The agent could review a user’s schedule and other information. It would then send a “Your Day Ahead” briefing to the user’s inbox.
In May, Google also brought the feature to the Gemini app under the name Daily Brief.
However, Google said users increasingly wanted CC to help with household management. Their requests included children’s school schedules, sports practices, bills and meal planning.
As a result, Google has expanded CC to support these family-related tasks.
CC Gets Its Own Google Account
The updated CC receives its own Google account. This setup allows the agent to work directly with family members while keeping separate permissions for their information.
Each family member can decide what information to share with CC.
For example, users can share emails about school events, sports, clubs, birthday invitations, doctor appointments and other family activities.
Users can forward individual emails to CC through its dedicated email address. They can also configure selected messages to reach CC automatically.
Furthermore, users can choose specific senders for automatic sharing. These may include schools, travel companies, clubs and sports teams.
CC will also suggest email senders that users may want to add to automatic sharing each week.
Up to Six Family Members Can Use CC
Google says CC currently supports up to six family members. They can share information and work with the same AI agent.
The agent can track important dates and tasks. It can then add relevant information to a shared calendar or task list.
For instance, CC can add an orthodontist appointment to the family calendar after receiving a confirmation email. Similarly, it can add a teacher workday after a school announces the date.
AI Agent Can Complete Family Tasks
CC can do more than send reminders. The agent can also complete selected tasks for family members.
It can fill out permission slips and activity registration PDFs. In addition, CC can create school supply lists, plan weekly meals and calculate driving times between activities.
The agent can also create shared Google Docs and Sheets.
When CC needs missing information, it can ask family members to provide the details. It can then update its shared group memory and use that information for future tasks.
CC Uses Gemini and Antigravity
Google says CC runs inside its own isolated cloud computer.
The company powers the agent with Gemini and its agentic system, Antigravity.
For now, Google has limited the experiment to US users aged 18 and above who have personal Gmail accounts.
Therefore, children and teenagers cannot use CC through their own accounts. School-provided email accounts also do not support the service.
However, CC can still help households with several adults. These may include parents, grandparents, caregivers, nannies and adult children living at home.
Existing CC users will receive email invitations to upgrade to the new version in the coming days. Meanwhile, new users can join a waitlist for access.
