KECH: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized 3,825 kilograms of drugs during a major operation in Kech district of Balochistan, an ANF spokesperson said on Tuesday.
According to the spokesperson, the operation was conducted at a suspected hideout in the Josak area following intelligence-based information.
The seized drugs included 2,454kg of hashish, 1,363kg of methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, and 8kg of heroin.
The drugs were reportedly worth more than Rs560 million.
Drugs Allegedly Destined for Overseas Smuggling
The ANF said the drugs were temporarily stored at a compound before being smuggled abroad through the sea route.
According to the force, the drugs had been smuggled into Pakistan from Afghanistan.
The suspected trafficking network allegedly planned to transport the drugs overseas after receiving a signal from its handlers.
Following the seizure, the ANF intensified efforts to identify and arrest members of the suspected drug-trafficking network and their facilitators.
The spokesperson said operations to arrest those involved are underway.
The ANF said authorities had also foiled attempts in the past to smuggle large quantities of drugs from Afghanistan into Pakistan and transport them to other countries.
ANF Intensifies Anti-Drug Operations
The operation was part of the ANF’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and dismantle international smuggling networks, according to ANF headquarters.
Officials said efforts to trace the wider trafficking network and arrest those involved would continue.
