KTrade and easypaisa have launched a new integration that allows users to open a Pakistan Stock Exchange investment account directly through the easypaisa app.
The process takes less than 10 minutes and requires no paperwork or branch visit. Users can complete the entire onboarding process from their phones.
On its first day, the integration set a new record for the highest number of investment accounts opened on the Pakistan Stock Exchange in a single day.
Open a KTrade Sahulat Account Through easypaisa
easypaisa users can now open a KTrade Sahulat Account through the app, subject to applicable regulatory limits and conditions.
The process uses identity details that easypaisa has already verified in the user’s profile. As a result, users no longer need to visit a branch, submit physical documents or wait several days to open an investment account.
Instead, the entire process can now be completed in a single phone session.
“For most Pakistanis, investing has always been something that happens somewhere else. In a branch, behind paperwork, with a minimum balance that ruled you out before you started. This partnership moves that decision onto the phone already in your pocket. Payments were the first step for us. Investments are the next one,” said Jahanzeb Khan, CEO of easypaisa.
KTrade Highlights Strong Investor Demand
Mahmood Ali Shah Bukhari, CEO of KTrade, said the demand for investment opportunities already existed but access remained a major barrier.
“The demand was always there. What was missing was a way in. When we removed the branch visit and the paperwork, people came in numbers that surprised the entire market, and most of them were opening their first investment account. That tells us the barrier was never interest. It was access,” he said.
The record number of accounts opened on the first day highlights the potential demand for simpler digital access to Pakistan’s capital markets.
Partnership Unveiled in Islamabad
KTrade and easypaisa formally unveiled the partnership at a ceremony in Islamabad.
Senior representatives from Pakistan’s financial ecosystem attended the event. These included Muzaffar Mirza, Commissioner at the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan; Naveed Qazi, CEO of the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited; Badiuddin Akber, CEO of the Central Depository Company of Pakistan; Jahanzeb Khan, CEO of easypaisa; and Mahmood Ali Shah Bukhari, CEO of KTrade.
KTrade Team Builds Digital Integration
KTrade’s in-house product and engineering team developed the integration under the leadership of M Hozaifa Ejaz, Managing Director of Product, Technology and Digital.
Ejaz has led KTrade’s efforts to digitise investor onboarding and improve access to brokerage services.
The integration also relies on infrastructure developed by Pakistan’s capital market institutions.
The National Clearing Company of Pakistan has played a central role in digitising brokerage account onboarding. Meanwhile, the Central Depository Company provides the underlying infrastructure that supports the integration.
Both KTrade and easypaisa also acknowledged the facilitation provided by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan in enabling digital access to the capital markets.
Targeting First-Time Investors
Retail participation in Pakistan’s stock market remains relatively low compared with the country’s population.
By bringing investment account opening directly into an app that millions of people already use for payments, the partnership aims to reach first-time investors.
The initiative could particularly benefit people outside major cities who have previously faced difficulties accessing traditional brokerage services.
With account opening now available through a familiar digital platform, KTrade and easypaisa are aiming to make participation in Pakistan’s capital markets faster and more accessible.
