ISLAMABAD: A civil court in Islamabad has issued bailable arrest warrants for the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman over failure to implement a court decree concerning affected residents.
Civil Judge Naseerud Din issued the order during the hearing of a petition seeking execution of the court’s decree.
Counsel for the affected residents, Barrister Adil Aziz Qazi and others, told the court that the CDA had acquired the petitioners’ houses.
However, the residents had not received the benefits promised under the authority’s rehabilitation policy, even after 28 years.
The lawyers said the court’s decree remained only partially implemented. They urged the court to order the CDA to ensure its complete and effective execution.
The counsel also informed the court that the CDA chairman had failed to appear despite receiving notices on three consecutive occasions.
The court took notice of the continued non-compliance and issued bailable arrest warrants for the CDA chairman.
It also directed the relevant authorities to ensure implementation of the court decree.
The court warned that failure to comply with its directions could result in further legal action.
