Pakistan women end T20 series with consolation win

DAMBULLA: Ayesha Zafar’s responsible batting and two wickets from Momina Riasat led Pakistan women to a consolation four-wicket win over Sri Lanka women in the third T20 International at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Tuesday.

The victory gave the tourists some relief after they had already lost the three-match series by suffering defeats in the opening two matches.

Ayesha anchors successful chase

Chasing 114, Pakistan reached the target with six wickets down and 10 balls to spare.

Right-handed middle-order batter Ayesha top-scored with 39 off 31 balls, including six fours.

Her team-mate and opener Shawaal Zulfiqar made 21 from 12 balls, hitting three fours and a six.

For Sri Lanka, captain Chamari Athapaththu and Kavisha Dilhari claimed two wickets each.

Momina shines with the ball

Earlier, Sri Lanka batted first and posted 113-6 in their allotted 20 overs.

Left-handed Athapaththu top-scored with 34. She struck five fours during her innings.

For Pakistan, 23-year-old Momina returned figures of 2-18 from four overs.

Before the T20 series, Pakistan played Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series. Sri Lanka won that series 2-1.
