ISLAMABAD: Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani will arrive in Pakistan for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Office said Wednesday.
During the visit, Dar and Al Zayani will co-chair the third session of the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).
The meeting will review bilateral relations and explore ways to expand cooperation in several areas.
Pakistan, Bahrain to Discuss Trade and Defence
According to the Foreign Office, the two ministers will discuss trade, investment, economic cooperation, defence and security.
They will also review cooperation in labour and manpower, cultural exchanges and other areas of mutual interest.
The two sides will exchange views on regional and international developments.
They will also discuss cooperation at multilateral forums, the Foreign Office said.
“Pakistan and Bahrain enjoy close, brotherly relations founded on shared faith, common values, mutual respect, and longstanding people-to-people links,” the Foreign Office said.
It added that the two countries maintain regular high-level exchanges and close cooperation across various sectors.
Visit Follows Bahrain National Guard Commander’s Trip
Al Zayani’s visit comes months after Bahrain National Guard Commander General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa visited Pakistan.
During his June visit, the Bahraini commander held separate meetings with Pakistan’s tri-services chiefs.
The meetings focused on regional peace and stability and opportunities to strengthen defence cooperation.
The Bahraini commander also expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan in military training and capacity-building initiatives.
The Foreign Office said the latest visit reflects the strong momentum in Pakistan-Bahrain relations and both countries’ commitment to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
