Bilawal Criticises MQM-P Over MDCAT Results, Accuses Rivals of Divisive Politics

THAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has criticised what he called a “party of political orphans” for bringing “Zionist politics” into Sindh.

Speaking at the inauguration of Thar Coal Phase III, Bilawal said such efforts would not succeed.

He said the success of students from Tharparkar in the MDCAT examination should be a source of pride for the country.

Instead, he accused a “party of political orphans” of promoting hatred and division.

Bilawal was responding to MQM-P reservations over the MDCAT results.

No candidate from Karachi Division secured a place in Sindh’s top 20, according to the results.

Bilawal Defends Thar Students

The results were released by Sukkur IBA Testing Services.

Students from smaller and less-developed districts secured top positions in the examination.

MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar questioned the results.

He alleged that corruption was widespread in Sindh. He also questioned whether the medical entrance test remained free from PPP influence.

“How is it possible that MDCAT has remained untouched by the PPP?” Sattar asked.

Bilawal criticised the political response to the results.

“You must have heard about Israel and Palestine, but they want to introduce this kind of politics to Sindh,” he said.

He added that such efforts would never succeed.

“If our children from Tharparkar or any other underdeveloped area are topping exams, then this should be a matter of pride,” Bilawal said.

Bilawal Opposes New Provinces

Bilawal also rejected arguments for creating new provinces.

He said he did not understand the logic behind creating new provinces because of governance concerns.

The PPP chairman said such reasoning was flawed.

He gave Islamabad as an example.

Bilawal said that if the argument was accepted, Islamabad could also be handed over to people from Thar after governance failures.

He said Islamabad should then be run in the same way as Thar.

Bilawal also described the Thar Coal project as a major example of the success of the 18th Constitutional Amendment.

Debate Over New Administrative Units

Bilawal’s remarks come amid a wider debate over Pakistan’s administrative structure.

The PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have different views on creating new provinces or administrative units.

The debate began in July after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the governance system had “collapsed”.

Naqvi called for structural reforms and new administrative units.

He also supported greater powers for lower levels of government.

Naqvi later clarified his remarks.

He said he was referring to the decline of the system over the past 80 years. He said his comments were not aimed at any specific government.
