KP Governor Says Counterterrorism Takes Priority Over Development Projects

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said on Monday that curbing terrorism remains the province’s top priority. He added that the government could put development projects aside to restore peace.

Speaking at an Apex Committee meeting, Kundi said authorities could not afford to let the law and order situation deteriorate further.

“We cannot allow the law and order situation to worsen at any cost,” he said.

The governor also called for close cooperation between the federal and provincial governments and security agencies.

“There will be no difference between the federation and the province. The security agencies and we all will be on the same page,” Kundi said.

Peace Will Encourage Investment

Kundi stressed that lasting peace would help businesses operate and attract investment to the province.

“When there will be peace, the businesses will run and bring the investment,” he said.

He also called for rapid progress on longstanding issues in KP. According to the governor, authorities must achieve within three months what the province had failed to accomplish over the past 13 years.

Moreover, Kundi said the government would focus on practical steps rather than promises.

“What we will do will not be words only, and the people will see the results,” he said.

He added that residents also wanted peace, prosperity and better living conditions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
