TOKYO: Anticipation is building for Grand Theft Auto VI ahead of its scheduled November 19 release, but Nintendo has offered no confirmation that the highly anticipated game will arrive on the Switch 2.
Nintendo of America President Devon Pritchard deflected questions about a possible Switch 2 version during an interview with Variety, saying the decision rests with publisher Take-Two Interactive and developer Rockstar Games.
“That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time,” Pritchard said.
Her remarks leave Switch 2 owners without any confirmation that they will be able to play GTA 6 when it launches this November.
Rockstar Has Yet to Bring Major Titles to Nintendo
According to Kotaku, Rockstar has several major titles that could potentially come to Nintendo’s latest console.
However, Red Dead Redemption 2 remains unavailable on the Switch 2, while Grand Theft Auto V has never been released for the original Nintendo Switch.
The absence of these titles highlights the gap between Nintendo’s console and other gaming platforms. PUBG is also among the major best-selling games yet to arrive on the Switch 2.
For now, Nintendo fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Rockstar or Take-Two regarding a possible GTA 6 release.
Zelda Remake Expected Before GTA 6 Launch
Although a Switch 2 version of GTA 6 remains unconfirmed, Nintendo has other major releases planned for its console.
The report points to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, which is expected to launch on November 5, two weeks before the scheduled release of GTA 6.
The upcoming Zelda title could offer Switch 2 players a major first-party release while fans await further news about Rockstar’s next blockbuster.
