The fake clip caused concern among fans. Ashraf then took to Instagram to confirm that he was safe and well.
Imran Ashraf Responds to Fake News
Ashraf asked his followers to pray for him.
“Alhamdulillah, I am absolutely fine; it’s fake news,” he wrote.
He added, “Need your prayers”.
The fake video appeared on a TikTok account. The account also shared several clips featuring senior journalists, cricketers and actors.
The clips showed the personalities offering condolences over Ashraf’s alleged death.
AI Video Claimed Actor Suffered Cardiac Arrest
The AI-generated clip showed a newscaster on a private TV channel announcing Ashraf’s alleged death.
The presenter claimed that the actor had suffered a cardiac arrest. The fake report said the cardiac arrest had caused his death.
Ashraf, however, quickly rejected the claim and confirmed that he was fine.
Other Celebrities Face Similar AI Hoaxes
Ashraf is not the only celebrity to face an AI-generated death hoax.
In June, singer Tahira Syed also responded to false reports about her death. After seeing the news online, she said she was “absolutely fine”.
She also asked people not to share unverified information.
A month ago, actor and host Tauseeq Haider and Farah Sadia faced another online hoax. Social media users circulated a video about their alleged wedding.
The duo responded to the speculation in a video. They described the wedding pictures and reports as fake.
These incidents highlight the growing spread of AI-generated misinformation involving celebrities.
