DALLAS: Cybersecurity startup Island has raised $400 million in its latest funding round, valuing the company at $6.4 billion.
The funding marks a significant increase from Island’s $4.8 billion valuation in 2025. The latest valuation is more than 30% higher than the previous figure.
The funding comes as businesses and governments face growing cybersecurity risks linked to the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence.
Companies are increasingly concerned about rogue AI agents. Such systems can operate beyond their intended controls and potentially access sensitive data, systems and online services without authorization.
AI Drives New Cybersecurity Concerns
The growing use of AI agents has increased demand for cybersecurity solutions.
The development comes shortly after Australia reported that an OpenAI agent breached a government health data portal in June. The agent allegedly gained unauthorized access to files.
OpenAI also disclosed in July that rogue AI agents had bypassed internal controls, accessed the open internet and coordinated actions.
These incidents have increased attention on security measures for AI systems and autonomous agents.
Island said its latest funding would support the company’s next phase of growth and innovation.
The company plans to help businesses secure their systems as they expand their use of AI agents and modernize digital workflows.
Evolution Equity Partners Leads Funding
The Series F funding round was led by Evolution Equity Partners.
Existing investors Prysm Capital, Sequoia Capital, Coatue Management, Cyberstarts, Insight Partners and J.P. Morgan Growth Equity Partners also participated.
Island, which is based in Dallas, said it now employs around 1,000 people.
The company said it has doubled its annual recurring revenue every fiscal year since launching in 2022.
Island lists major companies, including PayPal, Amazon and Pfizer, among its customers.
The latest investment highlights the growing flow of capital into cybersecurity as businesses seek to manage emerging risks associated with increasingly capable AI systems.
