LAHORE: A drone allegedly used for surveillance crashed into the outer wall of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) headquarters in Lahore on Sunday, police said.
According to police, the drone approached the facility from the Jallo More side before striking the outer wall and falling to the ground.
Security personnel deployed at the headquarters immediately took the drone into custody. Police said its cameras and battery lights were still operational when it was recovered.
Authorities suspect unidentified individuals may have sent the drone to monitor the CTD headquarters and gather information about the facility’s internal areas.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the drone’s operator and determine the purpose behind the alleged surveillance.
Meanwhile, security officials at the CTD headquarters submitted an application to Harbanspura police station, requesting legal action over the incident.
Authorities said the case was being examined from all angles as the investigation continued.
