Muhammad Zubair Questions Maryam Nawaz’s Payment Slip for London Trip

LAHORE: Former federal ministers Muhammad Zubair and Fawad Chaudhry have raised questions over the payment documents submitted to the Punjab government for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s private London trip on a government aircraft, ARY News reported.

Fawad Chaudhry, in his reaction, also reposted a post by Muhammad Zubair on social media.

Fawad Chaudhry addressed Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari and said she should not present the “Qatari letter” again and should instead show the original payment slip.

Muhammad Zubair claimed that even the deposit slip was incomplete, which he said meant the payment could not be processed.

He said the receipt did not mention an account number and claimed that no bank would accept or stamp such a slip.

Zubair also pointed out that the section for the authorised signatory had no signature.

He said the receipt did not clarify whether the payment was being made in rupees, dollars or another currency.

According to Zubair, the receipt also did not specify whether the payment would be made from a current or savings account.

He further said the receipt did not show the name of the account holder from whose account the payment was being made.

Zubair claimed that no bank would process or clear the receipt.

The controversy relates to Maryam Nawaz’s recent private visit to London, during which she travelled on a government aircraft. She had said she personally paid the expenses incurred for the use of the official aircraft.
