The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced that the inaugural Pakistan Hockey League will take place in the first quarter of 2027.
The federation described the planned tournament as the beginning of a new era for Pakistan’s national sport.

League Plans Faced Delays in the Past
The idea of a Pakistan Hockey League is not new.
Officials have discussed a revised model of the tournament since 2016.
However, several problems repeatedly delayed the project.
These issues included permissions, scheduling challenges, and financial constraints.
Proposal Regained Momentum in 2022
The league proposal gained fresh attention in 2022.
Local media reported that officials expected to announce details of the competition in June that year.
Reports also suggested that the tournament could begin in September.
An office for the proposed league was reportedly established in Lahore earlier that year.
The PHF also hired former Pakistan Super League project director Salman Sarwar Butt as a consultant.
However, the tournament did not eventually take place.
Inaugural Tournament Planned for 2027
The PHF has now officially confirmed its plan to hold the inaugural Pakistan Hockey League in early 2027.
The federation views the competition as part of a broader effort to revive and develop hockey in Pakistan.
