ISLAMABAD: The federal government has ordered that only one dish be served at marriage-related functions and events as part of new austerity measures.
The Cabinet Division issued the notification on September 17, with the measures taking effect immediately.
The government has also banned official dinners, except those hosted for visiting foreign delegations.
Seminars and Conferences Also Restricted
Government-funded seminars, training sessions and conferences have also been prohibited under the new measures.
Events that cannot be avoided must be organised at government facilities, including auditoriums and committee rooms.
The government has also introduced a mechanism for exemptions.
Requests for exemptions will be reviewed individually by the designated monitoring committee. The committee will then submit its recommendations to the prime minister for approval.
The measures are part of the federal government’s broader efforts to reduce public expenditure and promote austerity.
