ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected allegations by the Afghan Taliban regime linking fighting in Nuristan to Pakistan.
The ministry described the allegations as baseless and said they were aimed at diverting attention from Afghanistan’s internal challenges.
According to the ministry, the Taliban government was attempting to shift focus from internal repression, dissent and instability.
It also criticised the Taliban regime for what it described as an exclusive and non-representative system of governance.
The ministry said the Afghan Taliban had imposed themselves on the Afghan people through force and oppression.
Pakistan Rejects Claims of Involvement
Pakistan has rejected allegations that its security forces or intelligence agencies were involved in internal clashes in Nuristan.
The Ministry of Information said no evidence had been presented to support claims of Pakistani involvement.
It also rejected allegations that Pakistan had recruited or trained former Afghan security personnel or facilitated Daesh or other terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan.
The ministry said attempts to link Pakistan to internal violence in Afghanistan could not conceal the security challenges facing the country.
It further said terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory continued to pose a threat to Pakistan and regional security.
Ministry Accuses Taliban of Deflecting Responsibility
The ministry said blaming external actors for internal problems reflected the Taliban regime’s failure to address its own security challenges.
It also accused the Afghan Taliban of ignoring what Pakistan described as their role in supporting terrorism.
The ministry alleged that the Taliban were acting as proxies for a Hindutva agenda to serve the interests of a small group of leaders.
It warned that using proxies to destabilise the region would further deepen instability.
The ministry said the Taliban should address internal security and governance issues instead of making allegations against Pakistan.
Pakistan has also previously called on the Afghan Taliban to prevent Afghan territory from being used for attacks against other countries.
The Ministry of Information maintained that the Taliban’s allegations would not change Pakistan’s position and said the truth would ultimately prevail.
