“I never imagined that such a violent attack could happen to me in Great Britain,” says Musadiq Ismail
LONDON: A Pakistani student suffered facial fractures after an alleged racist attack near the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow.
The incident took place early Sunday morning. The student, Musadiq Ismail, said an unidentified man followed him and shouted racist remarks.
Ismail arrived in the UK from Pakistan in September 2025. He currently studies for an MSc in International Financial Management at Middlesex University.
Student Says Attacker Shouted Racist Abuse
Ismail said he was walking home at around 3:30am when the man began following him.
According to Ismail, the attacker shouted, “You don’t deserve to be here” and “Go back to your country.”
The man also pushed him several times. Initially, Ismail ignored the abuse and continued walking.
However, Ismail eventually pushed the man back to protect himself. The suspect then punched and repeatedly beat him.
The attack left Ismail with a heavily bleeding nose. His clothes also became covered in blood.
Doctors Confirm Facial Fractures
Ismail reported the attack to police several hours later. Officers advised him to seek medical treatment at a hospital.
At the hospital, doctors carried out a CT scan and an eyesight examination. Medical staff then confirmed that Ismail had suffered facial fractures.
The student returned to the police station the following day. He provided officers with further details about his injuries.
Police recorded the case under crime reference 0388647/26.
Police Continue Investigation
Police have not yet identified the attacker. Officers continue to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, Ismail said the attack has left him frightened and deeply traumatised.
“I am in considerable pain, particularly in the areas where I was repeatedly struck,” he said.
“I never imagined that such a violent attack could happen to me in Great Britain.”
Student Appeals for Action
Ismail has urged police to treat the case seriously. He also called for officers to identify the attacker and make an immediate arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify the suspect and establish the full circumstances of the attack.
