The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called 20 bowlers to a two-phase development camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The programme aims to strengthen Pakistan’s future bowling options.
The group includes 12 fast bowlers and eight spinners. Moreover, eight selected players are uncapped. This group includes seven fast bowlers and one spinner.
Fast Bowlers Begin the First Phase
The fast bowlers will attend a five-day camp from August 24 to 28. NCA coaches will supervise the sessions.
The uncapped fast bowlers are Razaullah, Mohammad Salman, Qayyum Khan, Abdul Subhan, Abuzar, Mohammad Imran Jnr and Muhammad Imran.
Meanwhile, the capped fast bowlers are Mohammad Salman Mirza, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Mohammad Hasnain and Faheem Ashraf.
Spinners Join the Second Phase
The second phase will run from August 31 to September 4. It will focus on the eight selected spinners.
Mehran Mumtaz is the only uncapped spinner in the group. Meanwhile, the capped spinners include Mubasir Khan, Saad Masood, Faisal Akram and Arafat Minhas.
Abrar Ahmed, Danish Aziz and Mohammad Nawaz will also take part in the camp.
Coaches Focus on Player Development
During the camp, NCA coaches and Pakistan men’s white-ball team coaches will work with the bowlers.
The sessions will focus on technical and tactical improvement. In addition, the coaches will review each player’s recent performances in competitive cricket.
The programme will help the PCB assess emerging talent. It could also help coaches identify players for future assignments.
Qayyum Khan Draws Attention
Qayyum Khan is the only player in the 20-member group without a competitive cricket debut.
However, the right-arm pacer has already made one appearance for Sports Board Punjab. He played in this year’s President’s Trophy Grade-II Silver.
Overall, the two-phase camp gives Pakistan an opportunity to develop its emerging bowling talent. The PCB will also assess experienced players as it continues to build a stronger pool of fast bowlers and spinners.
