vKARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has begun interviewing shortlisted candidates for air hostess positions at its Karachi base, ARY News reported.
The interviews are underway at a local hotel under the supervision of PIA Chief Human Resources Officer Athar Hussain.
The national carrier has already completed the interview process for air hostess positions at its Lahore and Islamabad bases.
PIA Recruitment Drive for Cabin Crew
PIA announced the recruitment drive for its Karachi base in early October. The airline invited applications from female candidates aged 20 to 28 for cabin crew positions.
Applicants were required to submit their resumes and applications online through the PIA portal. According to a PIA announcement, the deadline for online applications was October 7.
A bachelor’s degree was set as the minimum educational qualification for the positions.
The latest interviews follow similar recruitment processes for PIA’s Lahore and Islamabad bases.
PIA Tightens Rules on Smoking and Tobacco
Separately, PIA has introduced stricter rules governing cabin crew members’ possession of cigarettes and other tobacco products while on duty.
An earlier circular stated that air hostesses could carry only one packet of cigarettes, containing a maximum of 20 cigarettes, during a single flight duty. The airline warned that violations could lead to legal or disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from flight duties.
In June, PIA also issued a directive restricting smoking and the possession of tobacco products among cabin crew members.
Under the policy, flight attendants were prohibited from carrying cigarettes, cigars and other tobacco products in their personal luggage. The airline also imposed a complete ban on smoking during flights, hotel stays and in public places while crew members are on duty.
PIA management directed all crew members to comply with the policy and warned that violations could result in immediate suspension and disciplinary proceedings.
