PMDC Ordered to Probe Transparency Concerns Over Sindh MDCAT 2026

ISLAMABAD: Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to investigate complaints about the transparency of MDCAT 2026 in Sindh.

The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination wrote to PMDC President Dr Rizwan Taj over concerns about the examination.

The ministry said media reports and social media complaints had raised questions about the fairness of the test. Public representatives had also expressed concerns about the results.

The health minister has ordered a detailed inquiry to determine whether any irregularities affected the examination or its results.

PMDC Ordered to Analyse Results

The ministry directed PMDC to conduct a centre-wise analysis of the results.

The analysis will cover:

  • Number of candidates at each centre
  • Marks and percentages
  • Pass rates
  • Distribution of high scores
  • Unusual variations between centres

PMDC will also examine attendance sheets, seating plans, examination-centre records and result data.

The inquiry will review invigilation arrangements and available electronic and digital records.

Officials have also been directed to investigate allegations of malpractice, including impersonation, paper leakage, unauthorised assistance, technical failures and administrative lapses.

The ministry said responsibility should be fixed if investigators find any irregularity that affected the integrity or outcome of the examination.

PMDC has been given 15 days to complete the inquiry and submit its report.

No Karachi Candidate in Top 20

The inquiry follows concerns over the unusual distribution of scores in the Sindh MDCAT results.

No candidate from Karachi Division appeared among the top 20 students in the 2026 results.

The highest score was 179 out of 180 and was secured by a candidate from Shikarpur. Candidates from several other districts occupied the remaining top positions.

The results have drawn criticism from students, parents and political representatives.

The Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services has also taken notice of complaints and ordered an investigation into the result patterns.

PMDC Clarifies Its Role

The PMDC has previously clarified that universities are responsible for conducting the MDCAT.

The council said it does not directly conduct the examination. PMDC’s official press releases also state that the smooth conduct of MDCAT is the responsibility of the relevant universities.

The inquiry will determine whether procedural, technical or administrative issues affected the Sindh examination.

No final finding of malpractice has been made at this stage.
