PMYP and PRG Partner to Create US Healthcare Jobs for Pakistani Youth

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and Physicians Revenue Group (PRG) have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to establish a US-based secretariat to strengthen healthcare cooperation and create employment opportunities for young Pakistanis.

The agreement was signed during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), witnessed by Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, chairman of the PMYP.

Dr Shahbaz Shamsi, director general of the PMYP, and Mansoor Ahmed, chairman and CEO of Physicians Revenue Group Pakistan, attended the ceremony alongside other officials and representatives.

Secretariat to Connect Pakistan and US Healthcare Sectors

The proposed PMYP United States Secretariat for Healthcare Services Cooperation will connect Pakistani institutions with US healthcare providers, universities, professional organisations and industry stakeholders.

It will also engage members of the Pakistani-American medical community to promote institutional partnerships, knowledge exchange and professional development.

The initiative aims to create opportunities for young Pakistanis in several fields, including healthcare administration, medical and dental billing, revenue cycle management, care coordination and healthcare technology.

The secretariat will serve the wider healthcare and medical billing services sector. It will also provide opportunities for other institutions and stakeholders in Pakistan and the United States to participate in activities that support the initiative’s objectives.

Initiative Aims to Expand Jobs and Healthcare Exports

The collaboration seeks to capitalise on opportunities in the US healthcare market and Pakistan’s growing capacity to provide skilled healthcare support services.

By connecting Pakistan’s educated young workforce with international industry demand, the initiative aims to promote employment, strengthen professional skills and expand Pakistan’s healthcare services exports.

Another key area of cooperation will be the development of industry standards and regulatory frameworks for Pakistan’s medical billing and healthcare services sector.

The proposed work will focus on aligning industry practices with applicable US data protection, privacy and compliance requirements. These efforts aim to build trust among American healthcare organisations and improve Pakistan’s competitiveness in the sector.

Joint Working Group to Oversee Activities

Under the proposed framework, the two organisations will appoint a focal person and a secretariat coordinator to ensure effective coordination.

They will also establish a Joint Working Group to plan, monitor and review the secretariat’s activities. The group will coordinate with relevant Pakistani and US institutions to advance the initiative’s goals.

The agreement reflects a shared commitment to strengthening international cooperation and expanding Pakistan’s healthcare services industry.

Through skills development, professional engagement and export-oriented growth, the initiative aims to create sustainable economic opportunities for young Pakistanis and connect them with international employment prospects.
