LAHORE: The 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will run from March 18 to May 2, 2027, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Thursday.
All eight franchises will return for the tournament.
The eight-team format will continue for the second straight season after a record-breaking PSL 11.
The PCB finalised the playing window after consultations with key stakeholders. The decision followed the PSL Governing Council meeting in London on September 1, 2026.
Owners and representatives of all eight franchises attended the meeting.
PSL 11 Set New Records
The previous season marked several milestones for the league.
For the first time, eight teams competed in the tournament. The PCB also introduced a player auction instead of the draft system.
The PSL 11 final at Gaddafi Stadium drew a record crowd of 32,461 spectators.
Peshawar Zalmi won the title after beating debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets on May 3, 2026.
The victory ended Peshawar Zalmi’s nine-year wait for another PSL title.
PSL 12 Preparations Begin
With the PSL 12 window confirmed, the PCB will now move towards several key milestones.
These include direct signings, player retention announcements, the trade window and the player auction.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said PSL 11 showed the league’s potential.
He highlighted the exciting matches, record crowds and strong broadcast numbers from the previous season.
“PSL 12 will raise the bar further,” Naqvi said.
He added that the PCB would work to deliver another successful season.
Naqvi also said he looked forward to seeing all eight franchises compete for the title again.
PSL CEO Promises More Excitement
PSL CEO Salman Naseer said the previous season had raised expectations for the league.
He said the organisers would work to meet those expectations in 2027.
“Today’s announcement is only the first step,” Naseer said.
He added that direct signings, retentions, the trade window and the auction would create more excitement in the coming months.
“Eight teams, eight squads hungry to go one better and millions of fans across Pakistan and the world already counting down the days. Naye Daur ka Aghaaz Ho Chuka Hai (a new era has begun),” he said.
The PCB will announce details about the full schedule and venues later.
It will also reveal information about the player auction and ticketing arrangements in due course.
