The Sports Board Punjab has announced plans to provide hockey equipment and kits to schools across the province. The initiative will support schools registered on the Pakistan Hockey Federation’s National Hockey Portal.
The programme aims to promote hockey at the school level. It will also give students better opportunities to develop their skills.
Officials Review Distribution Plans
Director Admin of the Punjab Sports Department, Abid Shaukat, chaired a meeting at the National Hockey Stadium. Officials reviewed arrangements for distributing the equipment and kits.
DG Monitoring of the School Education Department, Abdul Qayyum, also attended the meeting. Other senior officials joined the discussions as well.
Meanwhile, Divisional Sports Officers from across Punjab took part through a video link. The meeting focused on coordinating the province-wide distribution process.
Distribution Will Take Place in Phases
Shaukat said the department will distribute the equipment and kits in phases. Every division across Punjab will receive its allocated supplies.
Rawalpindi Division will receive its equipment on August 21. The division will become one of the first areas to benefit from the distribution drive.
Afterward, the department will continue the process in other divisions. The phased approach will help officials manage the large-scale programme more effectively.
Sports Department Coordinates With Schools
A Sports Board Punjab spokesperson said the department is working with the School Education Department. Both departments aim to ensure that registered schools receive the equipment.
The authorities will deliver the hockey supplies to eligible schools across Punjab. The initiative could help strengthen hockey development at the grassroots level.
By providing better equipment, the government hopes to encourage more students to take up the sport. The programme may also help schools identify and develop future hockey talent.
