Thousands of former and current YouTube TV subscribers may qualify for a cash payout from a $7.5 million class action settlement. The claim deadline is approaching.
YouTube TV Lawsuit and Settlement
The lawsuit began in June 2020. It alleged that Google and YouTube TV violated California’s Automatic Renewal Law.
The lawsuit claimed that the companies failed to clearly disclose subscription terms. It also alleged that they charged customers without getting proper consent.
Google and YouTube TV denied any wrongdoing. However, the companies agreed to settle the case to avoid prolonged litigation.
Who Can Claim the Settlement?
California residents may qualify for a payment. They must have enrolled in and paid for at least one renewal term of a YouTube TV subscription.
The subscription must fall between February 1, 2017, and October 29, 2021. Customers must also have purchased the subscription through YouTube billing for personal or household use.
How Much Could Eligible Subscribers Receive?
The settlement payment stands at around $92.26 per claimant. However, the final amount will depend on the number of valid claims submitted.
Claimants can select from several payment options. These include ACH transfer, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, a virtual prepaid card, or a paper check.
Claim Deadline and Final Hearing
Eligible subscribers must file their claims by August 30, 2026. Claimants can submit their forms through YouTubeTVSettlement.com.
They can use the login ID and PIN listed on their settlement notice. People who did not receive a notice can still file a claim.
They can download a claim form from the website. After completing the form, they must mail it to the settlement administrator.
The court has scheduled the final approval hearing for October 15, 2026.
