ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan met National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and requested production orders for detained party lawmakers, ARY News reported.

During the meeting, Gohar raised several concerns and urged the speaker to ensure that the detained lawmakers were brought to the National Assembly.

“Our members are in custody. They should be brought to the House,” Gohar told Ayaz Sadiq.

The speaker assured him that he would seek legal advice before deciding whether to issue the production orders.

Achakzai Warns Against Restrictions on Right to Vote

Earlier, Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai said all provinces would stand up if attempts were made to undermine the power of the vote. He urged the authorities to reverse what he described as wrong and unconstitutional decisions without delay.

Achakzai called for an end to what he termed attacks on the Constitution and demanded that Parliament be made truly powerful.

He also claimed that 23,000 senior government officers, including bureaucrats, held dual nationality. He warned that the country was heading towards destruction because of its own mistakes.

PTI Challenges Emergency and Governor’s Rule in KP

Separately, Gohar filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday challenging the imposition of a state of emergency and Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In the petition, the PTI chairman asked the court to declare the measures null and void. He also requested an early hearing.
