PESHAWAR: All Zu Cards used on the Zu Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system must undergo biometric verification and registration through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
TransPeshawar has set December 31, 2026, as the registration deadline. From January 1, 2027, unregistered Zu Cards will be blocked and cannot be used for travel.
Passengers can register their cards at ticket desks at every BRT station during operating hours, according to TransPeshawar.
To complete registration, passengers must present their original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and Zu Card. Station staff will record the required information, conduct biometric verification and complete the registration process.
TransPeshawar Urges Passengers to Register Early
TransPeshawar Chief Executive Officer Dr Syed Murtaza Asghar Bukhari said the initiative aims to strengthen system security through passenger identity verification.
He added that the measure would support safer, smoother and more organised travel.
Bukhari urged passengers to register their cards before the deadline to avoid disruptions to their travel facilities. Early registration would also help prevent congestion at registration counters during the final days.
Registration Requirements for Children
Passengers under the age of 18 can register their Zu Cards using either a B Form or a parent’s or legal guardian’s CNIC.
For registration using a B Form, passengers must provide the child’s Zu Card and B Form, along with the required biometric verification.
For registration against a parent’s or guardian’s CNIC, the child’s Zu Card and the adult’s original CNIC are required. The relevant parent or legal guardian must also be present for biometric verification.
Options for Foreign Passengers
Foreign travellers can use a Single Journey Ticket or the Zu App to travel on the Zu Peshawar system.
TransPeshawar has set the Zu Card registration fee at Rs10.
