The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has offloaded a Pakistani woman at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport over a suspected case of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
The passenger, identified as Hamna Shakeel, was stopped while travelling to Baku, Azerbaijan, after immigration officials found her travel purpose suspicious.
During questioning, Hamna reportedly told FIA officials that she was travelling to Baku to meet a man she had contacted through a dating app. She allegedly expected to receive Rs. 300,000 in exchange for the meeting, while the man had also agreed to cover her travel and accommodation expenses.
The FIA said a voluntary check of her mobile phone revealed several suspicious chats and contacts allegedly involving discussions about sexual encounters in exchange for money.
During the investigation, Hamna also provided information about alleged sexual exploitation and physical abuse she had experienced in the past. She further claimed that she had been kept with other women by an alleged network in Karachi and subjected to exploitation.
Based on the initial information, the FIA is investigating possible sexual exploitation and human trafficking links in the case.
Officials said Hamna is also being assessed as a potential victim of exploitation, with further legal and protective measures being considered as the investigation continues.
