It’s wands out for Potterheads worldwide as HBO has released the second official teaser trailer for its much-anticipated Harry Potter television series.
The reboot of the beloved wizarding story, written by British author J.K. Rowling, stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.
New Teaser Offers a Closer Look at Hogwarts
Unlike the first teaser, released in March, the latest trailer gives fans a much more detailed look at Harry’s magical world.
The teaser features students putting on the Sorting Hat and offers the first proper glimpse of the Quidditch pitch. Fans can also see the Burrow and the Weasley family gathered in their cosy kitchen.
Paapa Essiedu also makes an appearance as Professor Severus Snape. His casting previously sparked significant backlash among some fans and critics.
Some objected to a Black actor playing Snape, who is described in Rowling’s books as having “sallow skin.”
Star-Studded Cast
The upcoming series features a strong ensemble cast alongside its young leads.
Janet McTeer will play Professor Minerva McGonagall, while Nick Frost will portray the beloved Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid.
John Lithgow will take on the role of Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts.
First Season Based on Philosopher’s Stone
The first season will be based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first book in Rowling’s popular series.
HBO is expected to explore the story in greater detail than the original film adaptation, giving characters and events more room to develop.
The first season is scheduled to premiere on December 25, giving fans a new reason to return to the magical world of Hogwarts.
