Irish Mountaineer Found Dead After Going Missing on Musa Ka Mussala

An Irish mountaineer, identified as Alexander, has been found dead in Mansehra’s Siran Valley.

Rescue 1122 confirmed his death after a search operation in the mountainous region.

Rescue Teams Recover Body

According to Rescue 1122 Mansehra, teams recovered Alexander’s body from the Jabar area of Pracha.

Rescue 1122, police, the Forest Department, and local residents took part in the search.

The teams faced difficult weather and challenging terrain during the operation.

Alexander Went Missing After Reaching Summit

Alexander traveled to Siran Valley with British national Alun David Cooper Cledwyn.

The two mountaineers planned to climb Musa Ka Mussala. The peak stands more than 13,500 feet above sea level.

According to SP Central Shahnawaz Khan, the pair first visited Gilgit-Baltistan. They later reached a resort in Mandachucha and stayed there on Friday night.

The climbers started their ascent the next morning. Both successfully reached the summit.

However, rain created difficult conditions during their descent. The two then decided to follow separate walking tracks.

Cledwyn returned safely to the Mandachucha resort on Sunday. Alexander did not return, which prompted authorities to start a search operation.

15 Teams Joined Search Operation

Authorities expanded the search as weather conditions worsened.

Hazara Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Nasir Mehmood Satti said 15 teams took part in the operation.

Rescue teams also used sniffer dogs and high-tech drones. They searched the difficult mountainous terrain for signs of the missing climber.

Heavy fog and intermittent rain made the search more difficult. Rough weather and low oxygen levels at high altitude also created major challenges.

Officials suspended the operation on Monday night due to poor visibility and harsh weather. Teams resumed the search on Tuesday morning.

Mountaineers Did Not Have NOC

Authorities had also said the two mountaineers entered Siran Valley without obtaining a no-objection certificate (NOC).

The required NOC would have come from the police and other relevant departments.

The search ended after teams recovered Alexander’s body from Pracha.

Rescue 1122 said authorities will release further details about the incident later.
