KARACHI: An accountability court has issued notices to Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal and nine others in a reference pertaining to the illegal allotment of welfare plots in Clifton, ARY News reported.
Notices have also been issued to former Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) director general Iftikhar Qaimkhani, former administrator Fazal-ur-Rehman and others.
The accountability court directed all the accused to appear before it on September 15.
The application for restoration of the reference was filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor.
The Sindh High Court had set aside the order transferring the reference to the Anti-Corruption Court.
The Sindh High Court had ordered the case to be transferred to the NAB accountability court.
Earlier, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal is under the spotlight after the deaths of 14 newborns at PIMS.
Speaking in the Senate, the minister said, “I am the health minister, I am responsible, and I have presented myself for accountability.”
Mustafa Kamal said he had no objection to the formation of an inquiry committee, but cautioned that a 40-day inquiry would not be enough to address the issue effectively.
“Who is saying that the situation in Pakistan is ideal?” he questioned, highlighting the broader challenges facing the country’s healthcare system.
The minister said around 400,000 children aged between one and five die in Pakistan every year, adding that approximately 1,300 children die every day, many of whose lives could be saved through timely and effective healthcare.
