RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Navy has seized narcotics worth approximately $96 million during two counter-narcotics operations in the Arabian Sea, the military’s media wing said Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out by Pakistan Navy Ship YARMOOK while deployed in the Arabian Sea.
850kg Ice, 2,000kg Hashish Seized
During the operations, conducted at extended ranges from the Pakistani coast, Navy personnel intercepted two dhows.
They recovered approximately 850kg of ice and 2,000kg of hashish/cannabis from concealed compartments inside the vessels.
The seized narcotics were valued at around $96 million, ISPR said.
The drugs have been taken into custody and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for disposal and further legal proceedings.
Navy Highlights Maritime Security Efforts
ISPR said the successful operations demonstrated the Pakistan Navy’s sustained presence and vigilance in the Arabian Sea.
The military’s media wing added that the operations reflected the Navy’s commitment to regional maritime security and efforts to prevent illicit trafficking at sea.
