Pakistan qualified for the Round of 16 of the FIVB U17 World Championship 2026 after a commanding 3-0 victory over Algeria in Doha, Qatar.
Pakistan dominated the crucial Pool E match from start to finish. The team won all three sets by identical scores of 25-17.
The victory secured Pakistan’s place in the pre-quarterfinals.
Pakistan Dominate Algeria in Key Match
Pakistan produced a strong all-round performance against Algeria.
The team scored 37 attack points, while Algeria managed 27. Pakistan also led 11-8 in blocks and 4-2 in service points.
In addition, Pakistan forced Algeria into 23 errors. Pakistan committed only 15 errors during the match.
Fahad Ali led Pakistan’s scoring with 20 points. He scored 16 points through attacks.
Captain Muhammad Irfan also made an important contribution. However, the scoring figures provided for his performance appear inconsistent and may require verification.
Strong Start Against Chinese Taipei
Pakistan began its historic campaign with a 3-0 victory over Chinese Taipei.
The team won the match 25-20, 25-10 and 25-23.
Fahad again led Pakistan’s scoring with 13 points. All of his points came from attacks.
Meanwhile, captain Irfan scored 11 points. He contributed five attack points, three blocks and three service points.
Pakistan also led the statistical battle. The team recorded 36 attack points compared with Chinese Taipei’s 29.
It also led 8-7 in blocks and 6-0 in service points. Furthermore, Pakistan forced 18 opponent errors, while Chinese Taipei forced 14.
Iran Defeat Before Strong Comeback
After the opening victory, Pakistan faced Iran in its second Pool E match.
Iran won the match 3-0. However, Pakistan responded strongly in its final Preliminary Phase fixture.
The victory over Algeria secured Pakistan’s progress to the Round of 16.
Pakistan Set to Face Egypt
Pakistan will now face Egypt on Tuesday, August 25, at the same venue in Doha.
A victory will send Pakistan into the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The championship also marks a historic milestone for Pakistan. It is the country’s first appearance at a volleyball world championship at any level.
