The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made major changes to the national Test squad ahead of the third Test against England in Birmingham.
The PCB released seven players and two coaches from the Pakistan Test squad on Monday.
The changes follow Pakistan’s 194-run defeat against England at Lord’s. England now lead the three-match series 2-0.
Seven Players Released From Pakistan Test Squad
The PCB released Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamir Jamal, Muhammad Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.
The board also announced seven replacements for the Birmingham Test.
Five of the new players have yet to make their Test debuts. The other two have already represented Pakistan in Test cricket.
Saim Ayub has played eight Tests for Pakistan. Abdullah Fazal has also featured in two Test matches.
Arafat Minhas has represented Pakistan in three ODIs and four T20Is. He is a left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder.
Four New Players Join Pakistan Squad
The PCB has also called up Mohammad Imran Jnr for the third Test. The left-arm fast bowler is among the players yet to make his Test debut.
Wicketkeeper-batter Saad Baig has also joined the squad. He won the Player of the Tournament award in the 2025-26 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Right-arm pace-bowling all-rounders Mohammad Imran and Razaullah complete the new additions.
Mohammad Imran is also known as Imran Randhawa.
The newly selected players will join the Pakistan team in Birmingham before the third Test.
Mike Hesson Joins Test Coaching Staff
The PCB has also made changes to the Test coaching staff.
Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul have been released from their roles with the Test squad.
Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke will replace them in the backroom staff.
The changes come after Pakistan suffered two heavy defeats against England.
England won the first Test by an innings and 103 runs. They then defeated Pakistan by 194 runs at Lord’s.
The results gave England an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Pakistan will now prepare for the final Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
The third Test is scheduled to begin on September 9. Pakistan will aim to end the series on a positive note after losing the first two matches.
