Sahibzada Farhan Breaks Abhishek Sharma’s T20I Run-Scoring Record

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan has broken India’s Abhishek Sharma’s record for the most runs scored in a three-match bilateral T20I series between two full-member nations.

Farhan made his first home assignment as Pakistan’s full-time T20I captain memorable by scoring half-centuries in all three matches against Sri Lanka. Pakistan won the series 2-1.

The right-handed batter finished with 238 runs at an impressive average of 79.33 and a strike rate of 165.27. His performances also earned him the Player of the Series award.

With this tally, Farhan surpassed Abhishek’s previous record of 229 runs in a three-match bilateral series between full-member International Cricket Council (ICC) nations.

The Indian opener set that mark during India’s home T20I series against Afghanistan earlier this year. He scored 229 runs at an average of 76.33, including a century and a half-century.

Farhan Delivers Three Consecutive Half-Centuries

Farhan began the series with a match-winning 89 off 53 balls, hitting 10 fours and four sixes. His innings helped Pakistan chase down Sri Lanka’s target of 183 and secure a four-wicket victory.

The 30-year-old continued his strong form in the second T20I, scoring 73 off just 44 deliveries. His contribution helped Pakistan post a formidable total of 215/3.

Sri Lanka struggled in reply, managing only 133/7 in 20 overs. Pakistan secured a comprehensive victory to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Farhan maintained his consistency in the final match, scoring 76 off 47 balls to help Pakistan set another challenging target.

However, his effort could not prevent a defeat as Sri Lanka chased down the total to claim a consolation victory and finish the series 2-1.
