RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has said the Kingdom will respond decisively to any threat or attack, while reaffirming its commitment to reducing regional tensions and supporting diplomatic solutions.
Addressing the Shura Council on Wednesday, the Crown Prince said attacks targeting Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries had shown that “Gulf security and stability are indivisible,” the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
He said Saudi Arabia would continue strengthening strategic cooperation and economic integration with Gulf states while protecting regional security.
Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye Defence Pact
Prince Mohammed said the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance (MJDA) between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye would help strengthen regional security and stability.
He said the alliance would also support coordination among the three countries in addressing regional challenges, according to SPA.
Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye signed the agreement in August. The pact commits the three countries to treat an armed attack against any one of them as an attack against all three.
Reuters reported that the agreement was signed amid rising regional tensions. Subsequent meetings have focused on security coordination and support for Riyadh.
Crown Prince Reaffirms Support for Yemen
On Yemen, the Crown Prince said Saudi Arabia would continue supporting the Yemeni government in extending its authority across the country and restoring stability.
He accused the Houthis of choosing “chaos and destruction” and threatening Yemen and the wider region, SPA reported.
Maritime Security and Regional De-escalation
Prince Mohammed also rejected the use of international waterways as tools of political or economic pressure.
He said Saudi Arabia had launched a multinational maritime defence alliance to strengthen security at sea and protect shared interests in international waterways.
The Crown Prince praised the Saudi armed forces for their role in confronting threats.
He also reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to reducing regional escalation and supporting diplomatic efforts.
The remarks come as Saudi Arabia faces increased attacks from Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen, according to the supplied report.
