Shehbaz Sharif Announces AI Education Support for Daanish Schools

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday pledged to provide all possible resources and facilities to Daanish schools, reaffirming the government’s commitment to quality education and expanded opportunities for students and teachers through artificial intelligence (AI).

Speaking at a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the Ministry of Education and Gauth AI, the prime minister called the agreement an important step towards expanding educational opportunities. He also welcomed the technology company’s offer of free subscriptions.

Gauth is gifting Pakistan its first 4,000 subscriptions to help students and teachers benefit from modern educational tools. Of these, 1,000 subscriptions will go to teachers associated with the government’s Daanish schools initiative.

“There is no dearth of resources, and the government will provide all possible resources to the Daanish schools,” Shehbaz said.

He described Daanish schools as outstanding educational institutions that provide free education and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting their students and staff.

Gauth AI to Support Teachers and Students

Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the initiative reflected the prime minister’s vision of promoting IT-led development and improving education through modern digital solutions.

She said TikTok had made its AI technology available in Pakistan, while the launch of paid Gauth AI subscriptions would make Pakistan the first country after the United States to receive the facility.

Maria Kohan, Regional Director of Global Public Policy at ByteDance Ltd, said technology could inspire creativity, create opportunities and transform lives, particularly through education.

She noted that ByteDance had already supported educational awareness through TikTok. Its dedicated STEM feed, launched in Pakistan in partnership with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, helps young people explore educational content in new ways.

Kohan said Gauth’s launch in Pakistan marked another step in the company’s efforts to support education through technology.

AI-Powered Learning Platform

Gauth is an AI-powered study platform designed to make learning more accessible, interactive and effective. It offers step-by-step explanations, personalised AI tutoring and interactive study tools to help students understand concepts instead of simply finding answers.

Kohan said the platform already served more than 200 million users worldwide. She added that the company was pleased to bring its learning tools to Pakistan’s young people.

The subscriptions will give students and teachers access to AI-powered tools intended to support teaching and improve learning experiences.

In addition to the 4,000 subscriptions, Gauth will provide another 180 free subscriptions for local students, Kohan said.

The initiative aims to expand access to digital learning resources and encourage the use of AI in Pakistan’s education sector.
