SLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this week at the invitation of Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, ARY News reported.
The visit will mark Shehbaz Sharif’s first trip to the province since the imposition of emergency measures and Governor’s Rule. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and other ministers will accompany the prime minister.
According to sources, officials will brief the prime minister at the Governor’s House on the province’s law and order situation and ongoing development projects.
The briefing will also cover 12 KP districts most severely affected by terrorism. Shehbaz Sharif is also scheduled to meet tribal elders during the visit.
Governor Seeks ANP’s Cooperation
Before the planned visit, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi met Awami National Party (ANP) chief Aimal Wali Khan to seek cooperation on issues affecting the province.
“I have come here with the request of cooperation for the betterment of the Pashtun land and the nation,” Kundi told the ANP chief.
Aimal Wali Khan said Governor’s Rule was a constitutional measure but described it as an undemocratic step. He also urged stakeholders to consider the circumstances that had led to its imposition.
“We had complaints, but I am sure these complaints will be addressed after talking with the governor,” the ANP leader said.
Aimal Wali added that the ANP would support any side working for the betterment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
