ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has released a report titled Journey Through Reform and Innovation 2026, documenting judicial and institutional reforms carried out between November 2024 and September 2026.
The report outlines progress in case management, reducing the backlog of pending cases, digital transformation, institutional accountability and improving public access to justice.
It details the implementation of an 86-point Reform Action Plan, supported by a structured governance mechanism, dedicated working groups and regular reviews of reform initiatives.
Focus on Case Disposal and Digital Services
According to the report, the reforms have contributed to a substantial increase in case disposals and greater attention to long-pending cases. It also highlights expanded digital services and improved data-driven monitoring of judicial performance.
The document records key national initiatives advanced through the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee. These include time-bound disposal of prioritised cases, the establishment of Model Trial Courts, the responsible use of artificial intelligence and the development of judicial analytics.
Improving Access to Justice
The report also highlights efforts to modernise judicial procedures, improve access to court services and strengthen collaboration among institutions.
Other initiatives aim to facilitate litigants, enhance transparency, expand international judicial cooperation and make the justice system more responsive to public needs.
The Supreme Court said the document serves as an institutional record of the reform process, outlining achievements as well as the work that remains.
The reforms are intended to improve the efficiency, accessibility, predictability and responsiveness of justice delivery across Pakistan.
