hird Qatar LNG Cargo Arrives at Port Qasim Amid Pakistan Gas Shortage

A third liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from Qatar has arrived at Port Qasim in Karachi, raising hopes of temporary relief for Pakistan’s strained gas supply system.

According to an official spokesperson, the LNG carrier Shandong Redwood has berthed at the Engro LNG terminal at Port Qasim.

The imported gas will be transferred to a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) before entering the national gas network.

Three LNG Shipments Arrive From Qatar

Qatari LNG shipments have continued despite heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy supplies.

Pakistan has received three LNG cargoes from Qatar this month. The first shipment, carried by Al Arish, arrived on October 13, 2026. The second vessel, Aegean, arrived on October 21, followed by Shandong Redwood.

Separately, the vessel Yellowstone, carrying 4,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Bahrain, arrived at Port Qasim on October 24, 2026.

LNG Prices Rise Amid Supply Shortage

The price of LNG imported from Qatar is linked to Brent crude oil prices, at 13.37% of the benchmark’s price.

Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased LNG prices for October amid a domestic shortage of the fuel.

Energy experts say the continued arrival of Qatari LNG shipments could provide temporary relief to Pakistan’s gas supply system and help reduce the expected shortfall.

However, the extent of the relief will depend on the availability of supplies and the country’s overall gas demand.
