Security Forces Kill Five Terrorists in Balochistan’s Washuk Operation

ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed five terrorists and injured four others during an operation in the Palantak area of Washuk district, Balochistan, security sources said on Wednesday.

According to the sources, security forces targeted militant hideouts with modern weapons during the operation.

The sources said the killed militants were involved in looting the public and spreading fear and panic in the area. Security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the site.

The operation comes amid intensified counterterrorism efforts by security forces and law enforcement agencies across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Recent Counterterrorism Operations

On October 7, security forces killed five militants during an operation against Fitna al-Hindustan in Mastung, Balochistan, according to security sources.

The sources said security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the militants during that operation as well.

Militant Attacks Rise Across Pakistan

Pakistan has witnessed a sharp increase in cross-border militant incidents, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021.

The country recorded its highest monthly number of militant attacks in 12 years in September 2026.

According to data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based independent think tank that monitors militant violence, Pakistan recorded 225 militant attacks in September, up from 199 in August. The figures represent a 13% increase, marking the third consecutive month of rising attacks.

Pakistan Urges Kabul to Curb Militancy

Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent militant organisations from using Afghan territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan.

Pakistan maintains that the Afghan Taliban authorities have failed to take effective action against groups responsible for attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians.

Despite multiple rounds of talks, Islamabad and Kabul have yet to resolve their differences. The presence of militant groups operating from Afghan soil remains a major point of contention between the two sides.
