Balochistan Plans Technical Training for 25,000 Youth by Next Year

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan to provide technical training to 25,000 young people across the province by next year.

He issued the directive while chairing the 11th board meeting of the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA) on Tuesday.

The meeting also called for accelerating a programme to equip 30,000 young people with professional skills and help them secure employment abroad.

Officials reviewed ongoing initiatives to strengthen technical education, improve vocational skills and create employment opportunities for young people.

B-TEVTA Launches Institute Registration Portal

During the meeting, Bugti inaugurated the Institute Registration Portal to improve the registration and monitoring of technical training institutions.

The portal will allow institutes to register more efficiently and help authorities monitor their performance.

The chief minister stressed that technical education and vocational training must meet modern standards and market demands. He said the government needed to create an environment where young people could find employment and achieve economic independence.

According to Bugti, relevant departments must connect training programmes with actual job opportunities. This approach would help graduates find work in Pakistan and abroad while improving their families’ financial conditions.

He directed officials to develop a strategy to connect the 25,000 trainees with employment opportunities in domestic and international markets by next year.

Programme Targets 30,000 Youth for Overseas Jobs

The meeting also reviewed progress on the programme to train 30,000 young people in different sectors and facilitate their employment abroad.

Bugti said Balochistan needed to turn its young population into a skilled workforce that could meet the needs of employers at home and overseas.

He called for improvements in the performance of technical training institutes, consistent training standards and stronger coordination among relevant departments.

The chief minister added that authorities must focus on practical employment outcomes rather than simply enrolling young people in training courses.

Officials Face Action Over Programme Delays

The meeting also examined delays in the Chief Minister’s Youth Skills Development Programme.

Officials reported that authorities had initiated action against those responsible for slow implementation and negligence in meeting programme targets.

In response, Bugti directed the relevant departments to speed up technical training projects and regularly monitor institutional performance.

He stressed that authorities must ensure timely implementation and achieve the targets set for vocational training.

Focus on Economic Independence and Employment

Bugti said Balochistan’s young population had significant potential to contribute to the province’s economic growth and prosperity.

He emphasised the need to make technical education and vocational training programmes results-oriented. The government, he said, must help young people secure decent jobs, strengthen their economic independence and participate actively in Pakistan’s economy and international labour markets.

The proposed training initiatives aim to improve young people’s employment prospects while supporting the province’s broader economic development.
