Imam-ul-Haq Suffers Calf Injury During Lord’s Test
Opening batter Imam-ul-Haq has suffered a low-grade calf strain during the ongoing second Test against England at Lord’s, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Friday.
The left-hander injured his left calf while fielding on the opening day of the Test on Thursday.
Scans confirmed the low-grade strain. Pakistan’s medical team is now treating Imam and monitoring his recovery.
The PCB said his participation in the remainder of the Test will depend on how well he responds to treatment.
Salman Ali Agha Replaces Imam in the Field
Salman Ali Agha replaced Imam in the field after he suffered the injury.
Salman captained Pakistan in the opening Test at Headingley. Pakistan did not include him in the playing XI for the Lord’s Test, but he entered the field as a substitute.
He made an immediate impact with a spectacular catch to dismiss Jordan Cox.
Cox scored 55 runs from 105 deliveries, including seven fours. Khurram Shahzad dismissed him after Salman timed his jump perfectly to the right.
The substitute fielder completed an outstanding catch with his outstretched right hand.
Imam Had a Difficult Opening Test
Imam also endured a difficult outing with the bat in the opening Test.
He scored 42 runs in the first innings before falling for a duck in the second.
Pakistan eventually suffered an innings-and-103-run defeat in the match.
