RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has unveiled the Ceer Exobot Sedan and Exobot SUV, marking the country’s first locally developed electric vehicles.
The launch supports Saudi Arabia’s efforts to expand its electric vehicle industry and move toward its target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.
Both Exobot models use three electric motors that produce a combined 838 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque.
The sedan can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.6 seconds. The SUV can complete the same sprint in 2.9 seconds.
Powertrain and Battery
The electric motors come through a licensing agreement with BMW. Ceer signed the agreement with the German automaker when the company launched in 2022.
Rimac Technology supplies the rear electric drive unit, while Hyundai Transys provides the front motors.
Foxconn supplies the vehicle platform and electrical architecture. The company also uses the technology in its Foxtron electric vehicles.
Both Exobot models feature a 112 kWh battery and a claimed range of up to 416 miles under the NEDC testing cycle.
An equivalent range under SAE-based testing could be around 20% to 30% lower.
The vehicles use an 800-volt electrical architecture and support DC fast charging at up to 250 kW.
Unusual Exterior Design
Ceer brought in former McLaren designer Rob Melville to oversee the Exobot models’ design.
Both vehicles feature low and unconventional body shapes with large glass roofs.
Ceer says the roofs are the largest fitted to a current production vehicle.
The windshield features a silver coating designed to reflect heat. It remains unclear whether the same treatment extends to the roof.
Both models also feature large gullwing-style doors that open upward.
The interior includes a 48-inch display that stretches from one A-pillar to the other.
The Exobot SUV measures around 16.5 feet in length and 5.5 feet in height.
The sedan measures more than 17 feet long and stands just over 4.5 feet tall.
Production to Begin in 2027
Saudi Arabia will initially serve as Ceer’s main market.
The company plans to expand into other Gulf Cooperation Council countries during the first half of 2028.
Ceer could later enter markets across the wider Middle East, Africa and other regions.
The company said its vehicles are being developed to meet global standards. This could allow Ceer to enter additional international markets in the future.
Ceer Motors operates as a joint venture primarily funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Foxconn.
Production of the Exobot models is scheduled to begin at King Abdullah Economic City in January 2027.
The company expects to deliver the first vehicles in March 2027.
Ceer Plans More Electric Models
Ceer also plans to introduce five additional models.
The upcoming lineup includes a larger D-segment sedan, another SUV and a coupe-SUV planned for 2027.
The company plans to introduce compact vehicles in 2028.
Ceer has not yet announced prices for the Exobot Sedan or Exobot SUV.
