RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed 19 terrorists in separate operations across Balochistan since September 21, while a Pakistan Army soldier was martyred during an exchange of fire, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
According to the military’s media wing, intelligence agencies reported multiple terrorist hideouts in the Shaban area of Quetta district.
ISPR said the hideouts posed a threat to the local population. Security forces launched a clearance operation in the area on September 21.
During the operation, troops engaged and cleared multiple hideouts after intense exchanges of fire.
ISPR said 13 terrorists had been killed so far. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the cleared locations.
The clearance operation will continue until the threat in the area is completely neutralised, the military said.
Six Terrorists Killed in Separate Operations
In separate engagements on September 22 and 23, security forces conducted intelligence-based operations in Kech and western Quetta districts.
According to ISPR, troops killed six terrorists following intense exchanges of fire. They also recovered weapons and ammunition from the areas.
Subedar Muhammad Jamil, 39, a resident of Taunsa Sharif in Dera Ghazi Khan, was martyred during one of the engagements.
The military said the latest operations form part of the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework.
The framework was approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue operations against what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.
KP, Balochistan Remain Major Violence Hotspots
Pakistan has experienced increased militant violence in recent years, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
According to the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the two provinces accounted for almost 96% of Pakistan’s violence-linked fatalities during the second quarter of 2026.
KP recorded 475 fatalities, or more than 61% of the national total, while Balochistan recorded 265 deaths, accounting for 34%.
KP also recorded 151 violent incidents during the quarter, representing 57% of the nationwide total. Balochistan reported 94 incidents, or 35%.
The latest operations come amid continued counter-terrorism efforts in Balochistan and other parts of the country.
