PANJGUR: Security forces killed four terrorists during an operation in Balochistan’s Panjgur district on Monday, security sources said.
The operation took place in the Aphan-e-Koh and Prom areas after security forces received information about India-backed militants.
Security forces engaged the militants in an intense exchange of fire. The operation killed four terrorists, according to the sources.
The forces also recovered a large cache of sophisticated weapons and ammunition from the militants.
Security sources said security forces would continue operations until they eliminated the remaining terrorists.
The operation came a day after security forces killed five terrorists and rescued 23 hostages near Kalat.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the militants had established a checkpoint on the N-25 highway.
The terrorists planned to abduct people, extort money and seize vehicles, the military’s media wing said.
Security forces responded quickly and killed five terrorists during the operation. They also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from a militant hideout.
The forces recovered six trucks, three buses and two cars from the site, according to the ISPR.
The latest operations come as militant attacks continue in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Security forces also killed eight militants during an exchange of fire in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a day earlier.
Six Pakistan Army personnel, including Captain Abuzar Farooq and Lieutenant Sheraz Babar, died in the clash, according to the ISPR.
The military said the Hangu clash began when a security forces convoy engaged militants it identified as Fitna al-Khawarij.
Troops effectively engaged the militants and killed eight of them, the ISPR said.
Captain Abuzar Farooq and Lieutenant Sheraz Babar led their troops from the front during the intense exchange of fire. Both officers died alongside four other security personnel.
Pakistan has witnessed increased militant activity in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan.
